I haven´t had this blog for two weeks yet and already I am neglecting it. However, one of my goals is to keep writing, so write I will!
Last week I re-started a French course that I had originally begun years ago. Unfortunately, my memory doesn´t serve me well so I cannot for the life of me remember when or why I stopped studying. It´s only a coursera course, but it´s been nice to get back in the saddle of seriously studying something and it gives me a great sense of achievement to complete each assignment to the best of my ability. It´s hard! I am familiar only with colloquial french, not formal french, nor am I well-versed in the grammar. My goal is to study it like someone in college would, so I have a better understanding of how the language works. En fait, my right arm right now is feeling funky from all the note-taking I did yesterday! Ouf! Alors, ça m´intéresse, je vais le continuer...
Elise and I are still stuck in the house for the most part. We go out on the rare occasion to stock up on picture books at the libary, or to perform some simple errand involving groceries. I feel so terrible that she´s no longer able to go out and play with other kids at the playground, or sit in a storytime session at the library with fun crafts at the end. Of course we could venture outside to a park (she´s been begging me to go to Gatorland), but I just cannot fathom wearing a mask in 90+ degree heat for hours on end. Seriously, kudos to all the workers who are required to do so. It´s torturous and even the thought of it fills me up with crushing anxiety. That being said, we are so lucky that we moved into our house last year when we did. It´s not so bad being confined in this house with such beautiful backyard that backs up to a small conservation area. Elise has become quite adept at identifying birds since we´ve lived here, and she´s also just as good at identifying butterflies! At the moment we have 4 polydamus swallowtail larvae that we have been feeding in a butterfly enclosure since their host plant outside is assiduously patrolled by voracious baby brown anoles. They don´t last long out there!
Well, my teeth whitening strips are about ready to be off (strips for sensitive teeth ftw!), so I´m going to end my post here. A +

Yeah, I´m one of those people who like to randomly inject french into their writing because we erroneously believe it makes us sound smart ...
